Wexford FC RT @YouthsWomen: IT’S GAMEDAY! | @YouthsWomen are looking to book our place at the Aviva with a win over @ucdwaves in this evenings @FAI_WN

Reigning WNL Champions Wexford Youths Women faced Peamount United at Ferrycarrig on Saturday night in what turned out to be a tense tough encounter that ended in a 2-2 draw. Peamount had made some huge signings over the winter with Republic of Ireland Player of the year Karen Duggan arriving with Aine O'Gorman and Claire Walsh to add to an already excellent young squad and are seen by many as strong favourites to win the title this year.

After an even start to this contest Youths were first to strike after Kylie Murphy raced onto a superb Claire O'Riordan cross to head in from close range after 30 minutes. Claire O'Riordan came close to adding to that minutes later before Becky Conroy made it 2-0 on 41 minutes with another excellent goal to match if not beat the one she scored on her Youths debut vs Limerick a few weeks ago. Spotting the keeper off the line she struck a fantastic chip from outside the box on her weaker left foot that put the Youths in full control at half time.

Last years title decider saw Youths defeat Peamount 2-0 on the last day of the season to win their third WNL title but this years Peamount side with the added experience pushed on hard in the second half and after 55 minutes Ellie Ryan-Doyle converted from inside the box and it was game on. Five minutes later it was all tied as Irish international Amber Barret scored with a superb free kick into the top corner.

Youths recovered from this setback and finished strongly with good chances for Orla Casey and Becky Conroy late on but it was honours even after 90 minutes and Peamount had earned a good point. But Youths have certainly delivered a message to all that they're not giving up their title without a fight this year.

Wexford Youths:  Sophie Lenehan, Nicola Sinnott, Amy Walsh, Lauren Dwyer, Orlaith Conlon, Edel Kennedy, Kylie Murphy (c), Aoibhin Webb (Aisling Frawley), Rianna Jarrett (Orla Casey), Becky Conroy (Becky Cassin) and Claire O'Riordan  Subs Not Used: Katrina Parrock, Rebekah Carroll, Clionagh Ni Shi and Ciamh Dollard.
