So far this season, central defender Ross Kenny has started (and completed) 22 of Wexford FC's 23 league games. The Mayo native was recently put under the microscope by Aisling Hannon of the WFC media team.

How have you settled into life at Wexford FC?

I have settled in really well. Obviously we had a difficult start to the season results wise, but everyone in the squad gets on really well together and I knew a couple of the lads already from college so it was easy to settle in.

You're from Mayo, what brought you to play for Wexford FC?

Yes I'm a proud Mayo man but went to college in IT Carlow and have lived in Dublin for the last couple of years. When Damian called I jumped at the chance to sign for Wexford.

When did you begin to play football and where did you play before joining Wexford FC?

I have being playing since around the age of 6 with my local team Ballina Town, in Mayo. I have also played with Athlone Town, Mervue United & Galway FC in the league of Ireland 1st division.

Do you play/are you interested in other sports?

I'm part of the Mayo for Sam brigade but I don’t really have time to play any other sports and like to concentrate on playing for Wexford.

What team do you support and are there any players that influence you?

I follow Everton and also as a centre half I have always closely followed John Terry and Rio Ferdinand.

Who have been your favourite team to play against so far?

Well we have beaten Shelburne home and away this season so I would have to say them!

How do you prepare for a game each Friday?

I like to keep my preparation the same for each match day. Porridge for breakfast, pasta/chicken for lunch and lots of water throughout the day. It's just a pity I have to get up early and work!

Who is your closest friend within the team, do you all get on well?

I would have known a couple of the lads before I signed but as the season has gone on we have all gelled really well as a team and even the new signings have settled in well already.

Finally, have you any superstitions or routines before a game?

Nothing major really, we all sit in the same seats for home matches and I would always put on my left sock and boot first but that could be more of a habit then a superstition!
